10K Race Today

I ran the 10K in 45:14. I'm happy with that result. I had my doubts this morning whether I could run a good race. I felt like I was up for most of night and still wasn't feeling all that good. Yet I was determined to make it the best effort I could. I ran with some really good runners today. My pace was steady and the only time I hit the wall was with about a half mile to go. It might have cost me a sub-45 minute finish. I can't get greedy here and I'm satisfied with my run. The weather was perfect. It had to have been 50 degrees in New York City. It is the first week in January after all. In 2 weeks I'll be back in Central Park running in the Manhattan Half Marathon. A result like today gives me good morale.

10K Race Tomorrow

I'm running in a 10K Race in New York City tomorrow and my over/under finishing time is 46 minutes. The weather forecast calls for unseasonably warm temperatures. It will be important how I dress. I know I'll be wearing my shorts since it's going to be above freezing. I will decide tomorrow morning whether to wear my long sleeve running shirt or my singlet. It all depends on the chill in the air. No rain in the forecast either. You take you're chances when registering for a race this time of the year. There could be snow and the race could get cancelled. Although this Summer 2 races in New York City were cancelled due to Hurricane Irene. You never know. The weather on New Year's Day when I ran the Half Marathon felt like Autumn. I hope tomorrow feels the same.

The Price Goes Up

I just ran 7 miles and I have a 10k race on Saturday. It is the first qualifying race for the 2013 New York City Marathon. I just found out this morning that the entry fee to this year's race went up $60. That would bring it up to $200. When I ran my first NYC Marathon back in 2006, it cost me $80. I still have to qualify if I want to run in it and spend all of that money. We'll see what the new year brings.

Second Race

I'm registered to run in a 10k race this Saturday. It happens to be a qualifier for the 2013 New York City Marathon. Now I hear the weather will be unseasonably warm. That would be good news for me. It is brutally cold this morning and I would prefer to run when it isn't so chilly. I went out and did a 7-mile practice run yesterday. I plan on staying inside today and work on stretching & weights.  My over/under finishing time for the race on is 46 minutes.

Under The Weather

Speaking of the weather, An cold Blast of Canadian air has hit the area I'm in. It's been seasonably mild for the past few days. I haven't been feeling all that good for the past 2 days. After the Half Marathon & Jam Session on New Year's Day, I've had stomach cramps. I think there is a bug going around. I do want to take part in a training run today because I have a 10k race this Saturday. We'll see how I feel.

A Running & Jamming Start

It was quite a New Year's Day in Albany, New York yesterday. Everything began at noontime when I ran a Half Marathon. I was able to finish in a time of 1:44:55. That is right where I thought I'd be in terms of my race result. I did feel like I hit the wall a couple of times. Yet I kept pushing on. After the race, I went and jammed with a couple of dear friends of mine. It was a great deal of fun. The biggest surprise for me was that my friend Mike Dunlop, who has been my rhythm section partner for over 3 decades, says he won't be playing the drums anymore. That was a shock! Instead, he wants to be a keyboard player. My Friend Nick Bisanz was there too. He did a lot of gigs last year and he played great! I was able to play a bunch of songs including some of the new ones I had written this year. It was a blast! 2012 is off to a great start.

Half Marathon & Jam Session

I'll be in the Capital District of New York State today. At noontime I'm running in a Half Marathon and my over/under finishing time is 1 hour and 45 minutes. After that I'm getting together with a couple of friends and playing some music. It's a very good way to start 2012.
