LeRoy Neiman

Artist LeRoy Neiman passed away yesterday at the age of 91. He was one of most influential artists on me. When I was a kid back in the 1970's I would be watching a sporting event and he would be painting an image of the moment. They were a wild collection of colors and movement. One of the things I like to do is draw musicians when they are performing live. I based my whole approach to the way LeRoy Neiman would create. I would always tell people he was my biggest influence in that kind of drawing. My artist alias was "LeRoy Neiman Marcus" To me his style was a combination of impressionism and action painting.
