Abstract

I signed & framed a drawing called THE FRONT DESK yesterday. I drew it last week when I was getting ready for my rock opera gig. The design is the logo to the rock opera. If I ever do merchandising it will be on hats and shirts. I described the drawing as abstract. A minimal thing really. Kind of like me.

Weekend Run

I'm so glad I was able to go out and run this morning. I wanted to run yesterday, but I was wiped out due to this cold I have. I just didn't know if I would get out there today. I did have some good energy out there. I'm feeling better right now. I would like to work on an art project this afternoon. I've had something in mind so it would be nice to bring it to creation. The art of running and the running of art. Keep creating.

Woe Of Man

I wrote these lyrics back in 1986:

Woe Of Man

You can't even try to give the kind of wealth I really need
In order to possess the things that I really want to have
Yet I know that you cannot
It isn't really what you want
So I am telling you right now I'm being honest with  myself
And not with you
Yes with you
Don't you understand

Oh woe of man
Yeah I'll do whatever I can to be by the poolside

I can see my future now and it won't be time spent with you
Because I need to have the choice of choosing what I want
And this will mean that I won't work
My full time job will be at home between the kids
My day will be so occupied
So occupied and never alone

Oh Woe of Man
Yeah I'll do whatever I can to be by the poolside

This is not the future yet and I don't live in the past
And as you can tell right now my surroundings are very nice
This should not be hard to take
We've made some very big mistakes
And now you'll just understand
I am the woe of man
The woe of man

Oh woe of man
Yeah I'll do whatever I can to be by the poolside

On The Wagan

I feel like I"m on the move again since I went out there and ran yesterday. I still feel the effects of the head cold I've had for the past week. My nose is still stuffed up, my throat is dry and I still have a bit of a cough. Yet my energy is slowly getting back to me. I know if I go there and run today it will be at an easy pace. I do have a 5K race in a couple of weeks. I'll start working up to that.

Making A Run Of It

I'm going to go out and run today for the first time in a week. I haven't done so due to my head cold. I feel better yet fatigued. I don't know how far I'll go. I would like to try and get 7 miles under my feet. I'll just put one foot in front of the other and see what happens.

Feeling Better

All I've been typing about for the past few days has to do with my head cold. That's been the dominating thing in my life. Last night was the best sleep I've had since the weekend. My throat isn't as sore as it has been. One more day of rest and then I plan on getting back to my exercise routine. Weather the storm.

Under The Weather

My whole schedule changes now that I'm sick with a head cold. I haven't run in over 4 days. It takes all of the energy out of me. I'm hoping to work with weights & stretching today. I'll try and slowly build up my power again.

Down For The Count

This head cold I have is brutal. Tough to get any sleep with a sore throat & stuffy nose. It feels like the flu blues.

Cold

The temperature has dropped and it is windy outside. It has been a mild Winter for the most part in my part of the world. Speaking of cold I feel like I might have one. I started to get a sore throat a few days ago and now I have a cough. My nose is stuffy too. I'm not sure if I'll run today. Rest might be the best answer.

Rockin' At The Swan

I has so much fun jamming at The Black Swan in Tivoli, NY last night! There were 3 sets of music in all. I opened solo and performed my rock opera THE FRONT DESK. In both the 2nd and 3rd sets I was joined by Nick Bisanz and Glenn Knickerbocker. We pretty much threw the kitchen sink at them with all the music we played. It was great seeing my rhythm section partner Raissa St. Pierre there. And Mike Nickerson who booked the gig for me treats everyone so great. I love it when we get them dancin'!

First Gig Of 2012

I will be performing my rock opera THE FRONT DESK for the first time in front of an audience. I'm looking forward to it. So much is going on. This is the first announced solo show I'm doing in 3 years. It will also be the first time I'm using my new P.A. System. I hope everything works. The gig is at The Black Swan Pub in Tivoli, New York. My friend Mike Nickerson booked the gig and I'm so grateful to him. I might have special guests too. We'll see how it goes. Nothing like going out there and really doing it.

The New York Football Giants

I've heard the term "Deja Blue" to describe  the season the Giants had this year and it's so true. It does remind me of their Super Bowl Championship 4 years ago. Last night's game was had me thinking I'd seen this movie before. Yet until the game was over, I didn't know if they would win. There's a parade in Manhattan tomorrow. Sounds like fun to me.

Super Sunday

I was in Central Park, New York City this morning and ran a 4-Mile race in a time of 28:33. I took several seconds off my Mile Per Minute rating. It was also a qualifying race for the NYC Marathon 2013. I felt good out there. I did get the stitch in the side halfway through the race. Just kept a strong pace. My next race is next month. It is Super Bowl Sunday and the New York Football Giants go up against the New England Patriots.

Run Up To The Race

Tomorrow is my 4-Mile race and I'll head out this morning and and go for an easy jog. I feel like I'm in good shape for a run of this distance. It's all about going as fast as I can. 4 miles is like a sprint compared to many of the distances I usually run. This race is a New York City qualifier and it will give me a chance to decrease my Minutes Per Mile average for club racing. It will be in Central Park and I don't have to worry about snow. The last time I was there it was a wintry mess and the race was called. That will not be the case tomorrow.

Friday Night

I usually blog earlier in the day. It is getting near sunset yet there is still a fair amount of daylight. It looks dry for the weekend so I don't have to worry about snow interfering with my 4-Mile race on Sunday. I'm going for an easy 3-Mile training run tomorrow. I'm now going to fix me some dinner.

Live Band

I ended up going to Open Mic at Whistling Willie's last night and didn't play solo. My friend Todd Giudice was house drummer for the night and guitarist Mark Westin also joined in. We played 3 classic rock tunes. The first was NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN. I planned on playing this song and with the other musicians, I felt like I had the orchestra with me. Then we played SHATTERED. The last song was THE BALLAD OF JOHN AND YOKO. At the end of the performance I said to the crowd, "Sounds just like we practiced it." Even though we had never played those songs together before, it sounded tight and fun.

Leap Year

There are 29 days in February this year. I remember going out with a woman who told me she was born on February 29th. The Chinese New Year was last week and it is the year of the dragon. I have a 4-Mile race this Sunday so it's time to check out the 5 day forecast. So far it looks to be dry. That can always change. The weather people say the seasonably warm temperatures will drop by the weekend. That means if there is precipitation, there's a good chance it would turn to snow. We'll see what happens. I will be running this morning.
