Saturday Run

I just finished running 7 miles. I plan on going out and running 7 miles tomorrow. That will make for 35 miles this week. I'm registered for a 4-Mile race next weekend. I'll keep training.

Sound

I had the opportunity to set up my P.A. System yesterday and I've made the decision that when I perform live I'll bring my bass amp. It would just sound better that way. It also gave me a chance to see how the entire system works. I need to make some modifications on the speaker stands. Nothing drastic thought. I just have to keep them sturdy. There has to be some tweaking with the vocals too. I don't have a monitor to hear what things sound like while I'm performing. I don't really need one right now though. Practice makes for future gigs.

One Week Left

The month of January is almost done. Next month will have 29 days in it. I like the seasonably warm weather. Busy day today. I have work to do.

Back At It

I didn't go out and run yesterday and after the Half Marathon was cancelled on Saturday, it's time for me to get back on the training schedule. My next race will a 4-mile distance in a couple of weeks. That will feel like a sprint compared to races I've run in recent times. The weather for today looks clear and the temperatures will be seasonably warm. A good day to do it.

Sunday

I'll go for a run when the sun rises. I'm writing a new song called PROGRESSIVE PUNK and working on a drawing entitled ELLSWORTH. And later today the New York Football Giants are in San Francisco to take on the 49ers. GO BIG BLUE!

No Race Today

The Manhattan Half Marathon was cancelled. A snow storm hit New York City so I'm taking the day off from running. I do get qualifying credit for the NYC Marathon 2013 however. The snow continues to fall. I'll do my Sunday Run tomorrow.

Over & Under

I'm supposed to run in the Manhattan Half Marathon tomorrow. It all depends on the weather. If I do run it then my over/under finishing time is 1 hour & 45 minutes.

Losing Love

Ever fall in love with someone only to have the relationship fail? I Have unfortunately.

I'm Not Sure

The weather for tomorrow morning in Manhattan is for snow. I'm not sure if I'll be running in the race tomorrow. The club could cancel it. This is a marathon qualifier for me. Nothing like Winter racing.

Getting Ready

I'll be in Manhattan today. The weather forecast on Saturday is calling for a wintry mix. That means the loop around Central Park will most likely be messy. I won't be wearing my new running shoes. I'm better off with an older pair. I'm wondering if the running club might decide to change the foremat of the race to a FUN RUN if conditions aren't good. They did that once at a race I went to when there was a couple of inches of snow on the ground. Club members would be very unhappy if they did that this weekend. The race is sold out. We'll see what happens.

5 Day Forcast

Since I'm running a half marathon this weekend, It's time for me to check the 5 day forecast. Right now the weather people are predicting anything from snow, sleet and rain for Saturday. This can have an overwhelming effect on the race. We'll see as the days go on how the conditions will be.

Middle Of January

It does feel like I'm halfway through the month of January. An Arctic Blast of cold air has hit the area and I plan on running 7 miles this morning. I ran 13 miles yesterday so this will give me 41 miles for the week. The Half Marathon is next Saturday and my training goes on. Another sign that it's the middle of January is the Australian Open Tennis Tournament begins tonight. Actually, it will be Monday in Australia. And the New York Football Giants take on the Green Bay Packers in Wisconsin this afternoon. GO BIG BLUE!

30 Years Ago Today

I was in Washington D.C. visiting my friend Ben who was going to college there. Along with our mutual friend Jim, who joined me in the trip, we were eating at a restaurant when word was going around that there had been a plane crash nearby. We found out that is went into the Potomac River. After we were done eating, the 3 of us took a walk to the crash site. It was snowing hard and cars were at a standstill. When we arrived at the area where the plane crashed, we could go no further. We were at the bridge where the plane hit before crashing into the river. I'll never forget the blank look on the faces I saw there. I knew then just how bad of a situation it was. Walking back from the crash site, I remember seeing the monuments. It was surreal. When we arrived back at the dorm, the news was showing rescue efforts of the survivors. It was shocking. That same day, there was a Metro Subway crash in Washington D.C. that killed a few people. The plane crash has become famous for the fact that there wasn't proper deicing on the plane and thus causing it to crash. Many years later on September 11, 2001, when I heard that a plane crashed at The Pentagon in Washington D.C., it reminded me of this day. I'll never forget January 13, 1982.

Weekend Eve

Friday is here and I ran 7 miles. I felt like slow bones out there. Tomorrow I'm planning on running a few more miles and the weather is supposed to be clear & cold. I have a Half Marathon next week. Getting in my licks now.

Grass Roots

It is an election year and I plan to be on the creative campaign trail. I'm in negotiations now booking a gig so I can perform my rock opera THE FRONT DESK for the first time in it's entirety. It's like a grass roots movement setting things up. One step at a time says the cliche.

Back On The Road

I ran 7 miles today and did a fair amount of weights yesterday. It's been a slow bones kind of training run the past couple of days. That usually happens when I don't have a race for the upcoming week. I'm planning a longer distance run this Saturday. This I believe will help for the Manhattan Half Marathon in 10 days. We'll see how it goes.

Monday

A bunch of things I have to do today. One thing I don't plan on doing is going out and running. With the race on Saturday and then a training run yesterday, it would be best for me to give it a rest. I'll do some stretching & weights though. It keeps my body tuned up. Bright moon on a Monday.

Big Blue

The New York Football Giants are playing at home today against the Atlanta Falcons. It is an opening round playoff game. I'll be watching it this afternoon. GO BIG BLUE!

10K Race Today

I ran the 10K in 45:14. I'm happy with that result. I had my doubts this morning whether I could run a good race. I felt like I was up for most of night and still wasn't feeling all that good. Yet I was determined to make it the best effort I could. I ran with some really good runners today. My pace was steady and the only time I hit the wall was with about a half mile to go. It might have cost me a sub-45 minute finish. I can't get greedy here and I'm satisfied with my run. The weather was perfect. It had to have been 50 degrees in New York City. It is the first week in January after all. In 2 weeks I'll be back in Central Park running in the Manhattan Half Marathon. A result like today gives me good morale.

10K Race Tomorrow

I'm running in a 10K Race in New York City tomorrow and my over/under finishing time is 46 minutes. The weather forecast calls for unseasonably warm temperatures. It will be important how I dress. I know I'll be wearing my shorts since it's going to be above freezing. I will decide tomorrow morning whether to wear my long sleeve running shirt or my singlet. It all depends on the chill in the air. No rain in the forecast either. You take you're chances when registering for a race this time of the year. There could be snow and the race could get cancelled. Although this Summer 2 races in New York City were cancelled due to Hurricane Irene. You never know. The weather on New Year's Day when I ran the Half Marathon felt like Autumn. I hope tomorrow feels the same.

The Price Goes Up

I just ran 7 miles and I have a 10k race on Saturday. It is the first qualifying race for the 2013 New York City Marathon. I just found out this morning that the entry fee to this year's race went up $60. That would bring it up to $200. When I ran my first NYC Marathon back in 2006, it cost me $80. I still have to qualify if I want to run in it and spend all of that money. We'll see what the new year brings.

Second Race

I'm registered to run in a 10k race this Saturday. It happens to be a qualifier for the 2013 New York City Marathon. Now I hear the weather will be unseasonably warm. That would be good news for me. It is brutally cold this morning and I would prefer to run when it isn't so chilly. I went out and did a 7-mile practice run yesterday. I plan on staying inside today and work on stretching & weights.  My over/under finishing time for the race on is 46 minutes.

Under The Weather

Speaking of the weather, An cold Blast of Canadian air has hit the area I'm in. It's been seasonably mild for the past few days. I haven't been feeling all that good for the past 2 days. After the Half Marathon & Jam Session on New Year's Day, I've had stomach cramps. I think there is a bug going around. I do want to take part in a training run today because I have a 10k race this Saturday. We'll see how I feel.

A Running & Jamming Start

It was quite a New Year's Day in Albany, New York yesterday. Everything began at noontime when I ran a Half Marathon. I was able to finish in a time of 1:44:55. That is right where I thought I'd be in terms of my race result. I did feel like I hit the wall a couple of times. Yet I kept pushing on. After the race, I went and jammed with a couple of dear friends of mine. It was a great deal of fun. The biggest surprise for me was that my friend Mike Dunlop, who has been my rhythm section partner for over 3 decades, says he won't be playing the drums anymore. That was a shock! Instead, he wants to be a keyboard player. My Friend Nick Bisanz was there too. He did a lot of gigs last year and he played great! I was able to play a bunch of songs including some of the new ones I had written this year. It was a blast! 2012 is off to a great start.

Half Marathon & Jam Session

I'll be in the Capital District of New York State today. At noontime I'm running in a Half Marathon and my over/under finishing time is 1 hour and 45 minutes. After that I'm getting together with a couple of friends and playing some music. It's a very good way to start 2012.
